Maé Meité's Motivation — to Be Alive —

We talked to Olympic Figure Skater Maé Meité about her philosophy of life and her greatest passion....

What's the first thought in the morning that motivates you for the day?

" Lately my morning thoughts have been quite foggy. But right now the thought that motivates me in the morning is to show up for myself. To be present at all times. Then I take a moment to connect with God and do my morning prayers, and share my affirmations for the day. And then I can get started with the day. "

What's your philosophy of life?

" My reason to be alive is to be present & help others. I understood my purpose not too long ago, but in order for me to be in capacity to help others, I have to heal the wound I have inside first and do some personal work. Embrace my roots and who I am in all authenticity. Step and walk in power to be a great leader. Use my personal story, to bring a positive and sustainable change to as many people as possible. "

What do you do to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

" Whenever I feel side-tracked, praying helps me stay grounded. And skating is what helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle honestly. Whenever I’m on the ice, I forget about everything. I feel free. Light. And going through the routines helps me stay healthy, mentally and physically. "

How would you describe the meaning of Figure Skating to you in one word?

" Freedom. "
